The Curchin Group Raised Over
$7,500 at its First Annual Indoor Miniature Golf Tournament
for Charity
RED BANK, New Jersey (September 26, 2006) – The Curchin
Group, a mid-sized, full-service certified public accounting
firm based in Red Bank, New Jersey, hosted the first annual “Curchin
Open,” a nine hole miniature golf tournament for charity
on September 21, 2006 in its Red Bank office. The event
raised over $7,500 for two locally-based charities – Monmouth
Council Boy Scouts and Michael’s Feat, an organization
established to support, give comfort, and ease the burden
for parents caring for seriously ill newborns in Monmouth
and Ocean counties. Over 25 companies sponsored the
nine-hole, man-made golf course and 5 companies sponsored
the fantasy golf scratch-off competition.
“We
are very pleased with the response to our first Curchin Open. This
was a great start to what will be an annual Curchin event,” said
Curchin Partner, Peter Pfister. Said Dana Puharic, Chairman
of Michael’s Feat, “Amazing! I felt like
I was at the boardwalk playing mini golf- The Curchin team
used their creativity and designed a realistic course right
inside their offices. It was so much fun! Michael’s
Feat is grateful for their dedication to the community and
to our fund. I promise to honor the donation and put
it to work helping our most precious and fragile young lives. This
gift will bring support to parents carrying and delivering
seriously ill newborns in Monmouth and Ocean Counties.”
Said Lee Marconi, Scout Executive for Monmouth Council,
Boy Scouts of America, "The Curchin Open provided a
terrific opportunity for attendees to support the Monmouth
Council, Boy Scouts of America. On behalf of our 7,000 Scouts
and 3,000 volunteer leaders, thank you to everyone who helped
to make the event very successful and fun! The proceeds will
help Monmouth Council to continue to deliver a quality scouting
program of participating citizenship, character development
and personal fitness to thousands of youth and families."
Eight
of the nine miniature golf holes were made by Curchin’s
staff and had a unique theme. Some of the concepts included
a Hawaiian hole, space odyssey hole, adding machine hole
and money hole. The challenging 9th hole had water
and a four foot high red buoy, which is Curchin’s well-known
logo. Crown Engineering, one of the hole sponsors,
constructed the remaining golf hole, which was complete with
sand, water and rubber ducks. Said Mike Palmer, President
of Crown Engineering, “What I observed was a fun filled
event with many companies engaged with good networking.”
