THE CURCHIN GROUP RAISES OVER $12,000 AT ITS THIRD ANNUAL INDOOR MINIATURE GOLF TOURNAMENT FOR CHARITY

RED BANK, New Jersey (October 9, 2008) – The Curchin Group, a mid-sized, full-service accounting firm based in Red Bank, New Jersey, hosted its third annual “Curchin Open,” a nine hole miniature golf tournament for charity on September 23, 2008 in its Red Bank office.  The event raised over $12,000 for two locally-based charities – Holiday Express, a nonprofit whose mission is to deliver music, food, gifts, financial support, and friendship for those in need during the holiday season, and Spring House, a nonprofit group home dedicated to breaking the cycle of homeless women and their children.  There were 32 total sponsors for the event.  Sponsorships included holes, food, beverage, and a fantasy golf competition.

“The Curchin Open is an event that the Curchin team as well as the entire community looks forward to every year,” said Curchin Partner, Peter Pfister.  “We are very appreciative of the generosity that our charity event received from the business community and of all the people that turned out to putt around and play fantasy golf.”

Eileen Higgins, the Executive Director of Spring House, said the Curchin Open was a great event for her charity.  “This was an amazing event; the generosity of the staff at Curchin towards the young families at Spring House truly makes an impact on our program,” said Higgins.  Spring House also designed a hole with help from the women who currently reside there, as well as from local artist, Kathleen Gasienica.  The hole was decorated with birdhouses with larger ones symbolizing the mother, and smaller houses representing the child.
