Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore

Give with Curchin in support of Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore

The Curchin Group is rallying donations for Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore as part of its charity spotlight series. Girl Scouts has long been doing crucial, wonderful work both in our community and across the country; its ongoing efforts are even more important during these difficult times.

Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore: Mission & Purpose

Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore is committed to building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore serves more than 10,000 girls from Monmouth and Ocean counties with the support of 3,500+ adult members, 40+ full-time staff, 20+ board members, and countless supporters working together to provide hundreds of activities and events each year for girls in kindergarten through 12th grade.

When a girl joins Girl Scouts, she discovers the world around her, connects with others in a multicultural, all-inclusive environment, and takes action to make a difference in her community and the world. Girl Scouts programs range from science, technology, and engineering to business, outdoor adventure, and more. The organization has adapted many of its offerings during the pandemic to provide Girl Scout experiences remotely, with in-person options wherever possible.

Girl Scout Promise
On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

Girl Scout Law

I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
and to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.

History

Nationwide, Girl Scouts is 2.5 million strong—more than 1.7 million girls and 750,000 adults who believe in the power of every girl to change the world.

Girl Scouts’ extraordinary journey began more than 100 years ago with Juliette Gordon “Daisy” Low. On March 12, 1912, in Savannah, Georgia, she organized the very first Girl Scout troop, and every year since, Girl Scouts has honored her vision and legacy, building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.

Girl Scouts is the preeminent leadership development organization for girls, with programs from coast to coast and across the globe offering every girl a chance to practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and success.

Impact

In December 2016, the Girl Scout Research Institute (GSRI) surveyed a nationally representative sample of girls to assess the role of Girl Scouts in helping girls attain the five pillars of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE): Strong Sense of Self, Positive Values, Challenge Seeking, Healthy Relationships, and Community Problem Solving.

FULL STUDY

The research provides compelling evidence that Girl Scouts stand out significantly from non–Girl Scouts, demonstrating more well-rounded lifestyles and a stronger propensity for success. Compared to non– Girl Scouts, Girl Scouts are more likely to:

Exhibit strong leadership outcomes
Earn “excellent” grades
Expect to graduate college
Aspire to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), business, and law careers
Feel hopeful about their future
Participate in a variety of fun and challenging activities, like those involving the outdoors, STEM, and civic engagement
Engage in activities that are girl-led, cooperative, and hands-on
Have adults in their lives who help them think about their future and pursue their goals
