Monmouth Day Care Center: Philosophy & Programs

Monmouth Day Care Center is dedicated to providing a safe, stimulating environment for families seeking quality childcare without regard to race, religion or economic status. The Center’s educational philosophy and curricula are derived from developmentally appropriate practice and the whole child philosophy, in which children’s social, emotional, physical and intellectual development are of equal importance.

Recognizing that children develop at different rates with varying styles, Monmouth Day Care Center helps each child flourish as an individual growing at his or her own pace. The Red Bank, New Jersey facility offers full-time enrollment only for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, with:

  • Eight age-appropriate classrooms
  • Two age-appropriate playgrounds
  • A multi-purpose room used as an indoor gym
  • A children’s library

In addition to its learning activities and daily outdoor play, the Center also provides freshly prepared breakfast, lunch and snacks at no additional cost.

History

Monmouth Day Care Center was formed in 1969 under the sponsorship of the Revitalization Corps, National Council of Jewish Women, Greater Red Bank Section, Junior League of Monmouth County, Council of Churches, and Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club of Central New Jersey. The Center opened with one class of three- and four-year-old children at the United Methodist Church in Red Bank.

In 1976, the Center moved to its present location, which required extensive renovations because it was a former dairy plant. In 1987, Monmouth Day Care Center became the first childcare center in Monmouth County and the eighth in New Jersey to receive accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children, a credential that it continues to maintain.

Over the years, Monmouth Day Care Center has provided programs for school-age children, children with special needs, infants, toddlers and preschoolers. In 2009, it entered into a partnership with the Red Bank Board of Education, enabling preschool children in Red Bank to easily attend. In 2018, the Center received a star rating from the Grow NJ Kids program, making it the fourth center in Monmouth County to receive this distinction.
