The Curchin Group to Hold Essay Competition to Determine Beneficiaries of Ninth Annual Miniature Golf Tournament for Charity

RED BANK, N.J. (April 30, 2014) - The Curchin Group, LLC, a mid-sized, full-service accounting firm based in Red Bank, N.J., announced that it will hold an essay submission open to all 501c(3) organizations to determine the two beneficiaries of the Ninth Annual Curchin Open, a nine hole indoor miniature golf tournament for charity.

Non-profits located in Monmouth and Ocean Counties are eligible to enter by writing a 250 to 500 word essay detailing the missions of their organizations and how the funds will be used for the greater good. The Curchin Group's partners will select the winners by June 30, 2014, based on the quality of the essay, the reputation of the organization and the proposed use of Curchin Open proceeds. Local charities can visit www.curchin.com, for more details about the submission process. Essays can be submitted beginning May 1 and will be accepted until May 31, 2014.

Last year, with the support of almost 40 corporate and individual sponsors and dozens of participants, the Eighth Annual Curchin Open raised $16,000 for Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore and Family & Children's Service in Long Branch. Since the event started in 2005, the firm has raised more than $105,000.

"We are excited to be hosting our Ninth Annual Curchin Open. Over the years we've been very pleased with the increased popularity of this event and continue to be amazed by the incredible generosity of everyone who has helped make it a success," said Curchin Group partner Peter Pfister. "This year we hope to break our record and raise even more funds and awareness for two special charities in need."

The Curchin Open takes place at The Curchin Group's Red Bank office on its team-designed course on Nov. 5, 2014. Player fees are $20 per person, which includes one round of mini golf, food and beverages. All proceeds will benefit the two locally-based charities that will be selected through the essay submission. Curchin is offering sponsorship opportunities to local businesses that would like to help the selected charities and elevate their profile in the community. For further information about sponsoring the Ninth Annual Curchin Open, please contact Peter Pfister at ppfister@curchin.com or at 732.747.0500.

"I remember my father and George Curchin sitting around my dining room table putting together our company's financials in the early 1950s. After 50 years, the numbers have changed, the faces have changed, but the quality of work and level of service that Curchin provides has remained the same."
